'Padma Purana' in the north section of magha mas is described as the fasting, charity and penance, even the Lord does not have as much happiness as it is from snānamātra in magha month.

व्रतैर्दानस्तपोभिश्च न तथा प्रीयते हरिः।
माघमज्जनमात्रेण यथा प्रीणाति केशवः।।

Describing the significance and glory of the month of Magh, it is said that Sri Hari is not pleased so much by observance of pious vows, charities and tapsaya, as he is just by taking a bath in the brahm-muhurt (the period of two and a half hours before sunrise).

So all the sins should be fast to get rid of all sins and God. It starts with the full of the moon.

Therefore, everybody should take bath in the brahm-muhurt in the month of Magh so as to get delivered of sins and to be blessed with love for the god. The bathing for the month of Magh starts from the purnima of the month of paush.(i.e. From 16th january’14)

There is such specialty of magh month, wherever it is water, it is the same as the ganges. Every date of this month are festivals. Perhaps they can not take the rules of whole mass in aśaktāvasthā, but the scriptures have also arranged for three days or a day of magha. In this month, a bath, charity, fasting and bhagavatpūjā is highly fruitful.

The peculiar quality of the month of Magh is that in this month all the water is equivalent to the water of Ganga. Every day of this month is a festival. If because of weakness, one is unable to take a vow of taking bath in the brahm-muhurt in the whole of the month of Magh, the scriptures allow that such a vow should be taken for three days or at least for one day. Bath, charity, fasting and worship in this month is highly rewarding.

Magha is known as 'Ṣaṭatilā Ekadashi', Magha Ekadashi. On this day (27 January) is the great mahatamy of black sesame and black cow.

1. Sesame Mixed water from bath,
2. Sesame of,
3. Sesame Sacrifice,
4. Betel water.
5. Tilamiśrita Food,
6. Sesame donations

- these six deeds are about to destroy sin.

The Ekadashi of Magh (falling on 27th January ’14) is known as ‘shatatila ekadashi’. Donating black sesame seeds and black cow on this day is considered to be of great religious merit.

1. Taking a bath with water mixed with sesame seeds,
2. Smearing sesame unguent,
3. Fire sacrifice with sesame seeds as oblation,
4. Drinking water mixed with sesame seeds,
5. Eating sesame seeds and
6. Donating sesame seeds.

– these six things are destroyers of sin.

Amavasya of magha month of magh month is famous as 'Amavasya'. On this auspicious date-Lrb-30 January-RRB-is a special importance to donate to silence.

The Amavasya of Magh (no moon day falling on 30th January ’14) is known as ‘mauni amavasya’. Keeping silent or conducting oneself like a sage on this pious day along with taking bath and giving charities is full of great religious merit.

On the day of a new day, it is rare that the gods are rare in the day of the moon, because ganga, Pushkar and divine space and the land which is all pilgrimage, they chant the prayer of the day of the new moon. Offer special dharmalābha on offer.

If the ‘mauni amavasya’ falls on monday, it is full of so much religious merit as is difficult to attain even for gods because all the holy places on the earth and in the heavens – ganga, pushkar, etc. – afford particularly great religious merit for japa, meditation and worship on a monday (somvati) amavasya.

Maṅgalavārī Chaturthi, ravivārī saptami, budhavārī ashtami, sōmavatī, sōmavatī amavasya (30 January) - these four dates are told. The Bath, charity and shradh is akshay.

Amavasya on monday, seventh lunar day on sunday, fourth lunar day on tuesday, eighth lunar day on wednesday – these four days are equivalent to solar eclipse. Taking bath, giving charities and performing shraddhaon these days affords inexhaustible religious merit.

Magha Shukla Panchami, the 'Vasant Panchami' is considered the apparition of Saraswati. On this day (4 February) should be Saraswati-blessed. In the book and pen (Pen), the goddess saraswati is considered to be the residence of Saraswati.

The fifth lunar day of bright fortnight of Magh (vasant panchami) is believed to be the manifestation-day of ma saraswati. One should worship ma saraswati in the morning on this day (4th February ’14). Ma saraswati is believed to reside in the books and pens as well. Therefore, these articles too are worshipped on this day.

Shukla's SAPTAMI SAPTAMI ' ACHALA SAPTAMI ' Shashthi on the day of shashthi food saptami and saptami with saptami (6 PHAṞAVARĪ), as and sadgati.

The seventh lunar day of bright fortnight of Magh (6th February ’14) is known as ‘achal saptami’. One should take only one meal on the sixth lunar day and should take bath before sunrise on the seventh. This destroys sins and affords handsomeness, happiness, good fortune and good spiritual state.

There are so many days of magha, however, there is a lot of importance from the religious purnima. On this day-Lrb-14 February-RRB-is a special fruit of bhagavatpūjana, shraddha and donation. Who worships god shiva on this day, he is the ashvamedh of the ashvamedh sacrifice.

That way, each day of Magh is pious; yet the Magh purnima (14th February ’14) is highly significant. Worship of the god, shraddha and charities performed on this day after ablutions is of great religious merit. One performing puja of god shiv in prescribed manner attains religious merit equal to that from performing an ashwamedh yajn and finds a place in shree vishnu’s abode.

On the day of māghī purnima, Sesame, cotton clothes, blankets, gems, turban, shoes, etc. is happy in human being. According to ' Matsya Purana ', the person who donates ' Brahmavaivarta Purana ' is the attainment of brahmapura.

Giving away of sesame seeds, cotton clothes, blankets, jewels, turbans and shoes etc. As per one’s capacity on the Magh purnima affords one happiness and a place in the heavens. According to matsya puran, one who donates brahm-vaivart puran on this day attains to the abode of god brahma.
